During his time at law school, he served as the research editor of the Agricultural Law Journal and gained invaluable experience with organizations like the Iowa Coalition Against Domestic Violence, advocating for special victims' immigration relief through U-visas and VAWA. James also worked for a cement construction company, securing H-2A classification for agricultural construction.

Following his graduation, James joined the Bernard Law Firm, representing criminal defendants throughout Iowa and developing experience in family-based immigration and the H-2A and H-2B programs. While contemplating starting his own practice in Hampton, Iowa, James ultimately accepted a job offer in Austin, Texas, to further his career in corporate immigration.  With the invitation to return full-time to the H-2A program in 2022 at Farmer Law PC, James re-established connections with many of the clients he worked with in the Midwest and decided it was time to build his own practice.  As the Larsen Immigration Law Group continues to expand, James will be taking on clients in the H-2A industry throughout the Midwest.
